SRK’s kin Rustum Tiwari is set to wed in town

On the right is the wedding
invitation card for Shah Rukh
Khan ’s brother-in-law Rustam
Tiwari, who is all set to tie the
knot with actor Shweta Varma
on March 12 in the Capital.
Tiwari, a 30-year-old Delhi-based
entrepreneur, is SRK ’s wife
Gauri’s first cousin, while his
fiancee Shweta made her deb ut
in the film Hide and Seek in 2010.
Shweta ’s second film, Bhindi
Bazaar, co-starring actor Kay Kay
Menon, is set to open a day prior
to their wedding.
“I am very excited and nervous at
the same time both for the
wedding and Shweta ’s film,” says
Tiwari, who will be wearing a
rust-coloured sherwani on his
big day. Shweta will wear a red
lehenga with a touch of blue.
Both the bride and the groom
have been dating each other
since eight years. Tiwari, who
grew up with Gauri Khan, says,
“ We didn’t want a regular
wedding invite, and that’s how
we experimented with artist
Anjana Kuthiala ’s painting.”
The painting, which is the cover
of the card, shows a bride and a
groom in very vibrant colours. “I
came up with the idea after a lot
of brainstorming with Rustam ’s
Parents. I have even made a 4/3
feet replica of this painting,
which I will present to the couple
on the wedding, ” says Kuthiala.

Dilshad Pastakia, Jaimal Odedra style the look of SRK in Don2

Shah Rukh Khan’s personal
hairstylist Dilshad Pastakia in
consultation with Adhuna Akhtar
has styled the superstar’s funky
hairstyle with extensions and
locks in Farhan Akhtar’s Don 2.
This grungy look is further
complimented with the actor
wearing a vest and a carelessly
thrown shirt that has been
designed by New York-based
designer, Jaimal Odedra. He is
also having a stubble and a
stylish ‘D’ tattoo on his right
forearm.
Earlier Odedra had also designed
SRK’s look for the Berlin schedule
where he looked dapper in
jackets and scarves. The
superstar has apparently taken a
personal interest in styling his
own look in the film and wants
to ensure that it does not clash
with his ambitious home
production Ra.One.
Don 2 is scheduled to release on
December 23 this year.
Reportedly, an international
version of the movie is also in the
offing that will compete with the
Tom Cruise – Anil Kapoor starrer
Mission Impossible: Ghost
Protocol.

Love has been the pulse of Hindi
cinema since its inception.
Celebrating love in Bollywood
style is unique and is revered all
around the world. Beautiful
backdrops, vivacious song and
dance and emotion drenched
dialogues have been the ‘apple of
the eye’ for the Bolly industry.
Romantic films like Raj Kapoor’s
‘Awaara’ and Guru Dutt’s ‘Kaagaz
ke Phool’ laid the stepping stones
in the black and white era that
was followed through decades
by films and film makers. The
canvas of Hindi films seems
incomplete without the color of
romance!
5. Maine Pyar Kiya
Among the five evergreen movies
that have instilled the audience
to ‘fall in love’, the fifth position
goes to Sooraj Barjatiya’s
romantic flick ‘Maine Pyar Kiya’
that rocked the nation in 1989.
Not only did it set the launch pad
for Salman Khan but also encrypt
itself into memories of romance
that is almost unforgettable. The
young duo of Prem and Suman
(played by Salman and
Bhagyasree) and their struggle
for a happy reunion allured
teenagers all across the country.
The film received many acclaims
including a Filmfare for Best film
and Best Music.
4. Kaagaz ke Phool
The fourth position is held by
Guru Dutt ’s love saga ‘Kaagaz ke
Phool’ that is rumoured to
portray Dutt’s increasing distance
with his wife singer Geeta Dutt
that was initiated by his alluring
affection for Waheeda Rahman.
The film is an epic and was
ranked at 160 among greatest
films of all times. The film has
memorable music by legend S D
Burman and artists like Geeta
Dutt and Mohammad Rafi had
lent their vocals for the songs.
3. Devdas
The third position goes to
‘ Devdas’ that is based on a novel
by Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay.
The plot of the film revolves
around the rich Devdas and the
poor Parvati. How societal taboos
set the lovers apart and ruined
their lives forever is what the
story is all about. The film has
been made in different Indian
languages so far. Though the
first filmy version of Devdas was
made in 1927, the Dilip Kumar
starrer of 1955 still tops the
chart. Bengali actress Suchitra
Sen played the role of Paro while
the role of courtesan
Chandramukhi was enacted by
Vyjantimala. Devdas has
managed to sway the audience
with emotions every time the film
has hit the silver screen.
2. Dilwale Dulhaniya Le
Jaayenge
The Shahrukh Khan-Kajol starrer
‘ Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jaayenge’ or
popularly known as DDLJ is on
position two. Raj and Simran
managed to break all records at
the box office as they toured all
across Europe spinning a love
story that has captured minds
forever. Yash Chopra’s son Aditya
Chopra debuted as a director
with DDLJ in 1995. The film
bagged 10 awards that year
including a National award for
the most popular film of the year.
A movie hall in Mumbai is still
holding shows of DDLJ…….what
more does the film need to be a
star!
1. Mughal-e-Azam
The film that has topped charts
forever since it was made is
K.Asif ’s ‘Mughal-e-Azam’ that was
released in 1960 for the first
time. The epic love story between
Prince Salim (played by Dilip
Kumar) and a court dancer
Anarkali (played by Madhubala)
has been an inspiration for
lovers through time. It not only
broke innumerable records in
terms of lavish technology and
art used in the film but also for
its brilliant music and songs that
are hummed till today. The
brilliantly scripted dialogues of
the film were awarded with
Filmfare that year. Naushad ’s
‘Pyar Kiya to Darna Kya’ became
the anthem for lovers all across
the globe.
Bollywood’s celebration of love
and romance is eternal and
continues till today ……..not only
with every new film that is
made ……but essentially in every
movie lover’s heart!

Shahrukh's DON 2 delays Kareena's DHRUV

DHRUV, which would be starring
Kareena Kapoor and Chitrangada
Singh in principle roles along
with Farhan Akhtar, has been
further delayed. What has further
aggravated the situation is
Shahrukh Khan's DON 2 which is
a priority for the production
house.
"Shahrukh Khan would be seen
in DON 2 in December this year.
Now it is the biggest film ever
that has been produced (along
with Riteish Sidhwani) and
directed by Farhan Akhtar. The
trouble though is that DHRUV too
is a Farhan Akhtar film. Not just
that, he is also the central
protagonist there in the capacity
of an actor," informs a trade
insider who is keeping tabs on
the latest developments.
view DON 2 THE CHASE
CONTINUES stills
All of this means that the
production team's entire
concentration is currently on
DON 2 due to which DHRUV (to
be directed by Sudhir Mishra)
stays to be on hold.
Informs a source, "For Shahrukh
Khan, DON 2 is a major project.
Other than RA. ONE which is his
own production, he has also
taken the responsibility of
keeping the franchise running. It
is a loaded action entertainer
with extensive effort required to
be put into post production.
Farhan and others are totally
neck deep into DON 2 which
means there is no time available
for DHRUV to kick start."

"Don 2 follows SRK's character into a different adventure" - Farhan

How has life been lately?
Hectic. Everything is going great.
2010 just swished by. It was an
exhausting year. I am hoping
that all the hard work pays off
this year. Fortunately, my wife
and daughters could join me
during my long schedules in
Spain (for Zindagi Na Milegi
Dobara) and Berlin (Don 2).
Do you get to spend enough
time with your daughters?
How do you define 'enough'?
They're happy children. The older
one is a lot aware of what I do.
She has begun to understand
what I do. As of now she's more
reactive to the music in my
cinema. Even the younger one
loves the Rock On music. Now
both my daughters are into the
music of Zoya's Zindagi Na Milegi
Dobara (ZNMD).
How was the long first schedule
of Don 2-The Chase Continues in
Berlin?
I haven't really figured out the
full title. As of now it's just Don 2.
It follows Shah Rukh's character
into a different adventure. Yes,
the character has grown.
Will there be a Don 3?
Yes, why not? Let's see. I do
enjoy making Don. Right now I'm
just happy creating a whole new
story for this character. It's a big
challenge for me. We are 60
percent done with Don.
Is it more action-oriented than
the first Don?
I don't know how to answer
that. There was action in that
one, there's action in this one. I
hate saying things like, 'You've
never seen anything like this
before.' Yeah there are action
sequences where Don being Don
is up to no good.
What was you equation like
with Shah Rukh this time?
I feel in terms of his real-life
personality Don, suits Shah Rukh
to the hilt. In real life too there's
a certain flamboyance and
magnetism about Shah Rukh. He
brings these qualities effortlessly
to the part. Also, like me, he has
great respect and love for the
original Don (featuring Amitabh
Bachchan). At the same time he
gives the character his own spin.
In the second Don we've taken
some of the essence of what
Shah Rukh did in the first Don.
But we've also given him some
new things to do.
You wear so many hats. Are
comfortable with all your roles?
I guess. I've no regrets about any
of my roles. It's been more than
two years since my acting debut
in Rock On. Its impact lingers.
However, I genuinely feel my dad
(Javed Akhtar) did not get
enough credit for the lyrics he
wrote in Rock On. After such a
long time these were songs that
were so non-situational. Without
any reference point he wrote
lyrics that were so contagious
and identifiable…Of course
everyone loved the music of Rock
On. But my dad's calibre of
writing in the songs didn't get its
due.
In 2010 you were directed by
your sister Zoya in Zindagi Na
Milegi Dobara (ZNMD). How was
the experience?
Yeah, all of us-Zoya, Hrithik,
Abhay, Katrina, Kalki and me…
became this little commune
travelling across Spain. We
travelled a lot. Spain has
everything from beaches to
mountains. So far only Bollywood
songs have been shot in Spain.
There's a serious change in
topography as you drive
through. The important thing
was for us to look like we belong
to one group
All of you do look very Hispanic?
(Thinks) Come to think of it we
do have a similar skin-tone and
hair. And the Spanish crew was
wonderful. What's most
important is that we were
working with like-minded
people. We made sure every
scene was fun. Abhay, Hrithik
and I spent a lot of time together.
We really had some serious fun.
Hrithik I knew for a long time.
Abhay I got to know during this
film. He's a very cool guy.
ZNMD looks like the last part of
your trilogy on male bonding
after Dil Chahta Hai and Rock
On?
Funny, you say that. And why the
last? No, I don't have any major
fascination with cinema on male
bonding. Dil Chahta Hai is the
only script I wrote on the theme.
Gattu (Abhishek Kapoor) wrote
Rock On a fab script about a rock
band. Zoya's script for ZNMD is
about three guys on the verge of
making commitments in life.
Don't you think Abhishek
Kapoor and Zoya were
influenced by Dil Chahta Hai?
They never told me. I never asked
them. I know both liked Dil
Chahta Hai very much.
How was it being directing by
your sister a second time?
In Zoya's Luck By Chance I was a
sneaky social climber. In ZNMD
it's a sea-change. I play this guy
who for the longest time takes
nothing seriously. I am not even
rich and I don't pretend to be.
I'm just happy being the way I
am. I got to just let my hair
down. Many moments in this film
gave me a chance to have lots of
fun. After Rock On, Luck By
Chance and Kartik Calling Kartik
which were all serious angst-
laden characters in ZNMD I play a
fun character.
So you had fun doing the film?
Not just me. All of us. It was the
nature of the script. There was
so much improvisation. There
was only so much that could be
put on paper. So yeah we did
improvise. We participated in the
Tomatino festival in Spain.
And a bull fight?
Let me clarify that once and for
all. There's no bullfight in ZNMD.
We had animal-rights
organizations questioning us
about it. We sent them a letter
saying there was no such thing.
We did participate in a Running
With The Bulls festival. No bulls
got injured in that. We shot it in a
completely controlled
environment. We plan to release
it at the end of May.
Reema Kagti's film starring
Aamir Khan which you are
producing must be very
expensive considering Mr Khan
doesn't come cheap?
No it's not that expensive. It's a
very straightforward thriller. It
doesn't demand an expensive
treatment. The final cast is Aamir,
Kareena and Rani. And we have a
host of other good actors in
other roles
What about your singing?
All three of us Hrithik, Abhay and
I, have sung in ZNMD. It's a party
situation. It seemed interesting
to lend our own voices to our
characters. It's turned out really
really well. I am very excited.
That's the only song I've sung in
a movie this year. Otherwise I am
constantly singing in real life. I
was singing before this
interview. I'll be singing after
we're done.
If that's a hint I am not taking
it.
(Laughs) Seriously I enjoy
singing, though I haven't sung
for anyone else on screen apart
from myself.
Why not? You get so many
offers including one from A R
Rahman.
It's not because I am possessive
about my voice. I don't know if
my voice will work on anyone
else. I feel my singing adds to my
performances. I don't know if it
would add to other actors'
performances. In Kartik Calling
Kartik I didn't see my singing
adding to my character, so I
didn't. If I feel really kicked about
singing for someone else, I will.
Singing is not a profession for
me. As of now I'll sing only for
myself.
Do you also look into the
individual productions that
emerge from your banner, or
do you leave that to your
partner Ritesh Sidhwani?
Ritesh deals with the day-to-day
decisions. But the larger
decisions, we sit and discuss. Our
formula for success? To focus
relentlessly on telling a good
story. To me that's really
important. People remember a
good story. Filmmaking begins
for me with finding a good story.

Don 'SRK' caught in Malaysia!

Don ko pakadna mushkil hi
nahin...namunkin hai' is
something everyone in
Bollywood believes.
Naturally, it was shocking for
TOI to discover that Shah Rukh
Khan, who is reprising his Don
avatar was actually spending
time in a Malaysian jail. Hello,
what just happened here?
We're wondering how SRK
landed in jail. His motive
remains unexplained and even
the filmmakers of Don 2, Excel
Entertainment Pvt Ltd are not
divulging any further details.
Jailbird or otherwise, SRK with
his long dishevelled locks and a
lean sculpted body looks
terrific. Of course, his
incarceration comes as a rude
shock. Perhaps even this has
some hidden logic. As the
adage goes — Whatever Don
does, he does for a reason.
This thriller is due on Christmas.
We'll have to wait until then to
know how the Don landed
himself in this spot.

Hyundai plays 2011 Cricket World Cup with Sachin Tendulkar and Shahrukh Khan for better brand recall.

Also the world cup matches will

ÐÐLJ WINS Ønscreen Romançe POLL

MUMBAI: Bollywood portal
www.chakpak.com conducted an
extensive nationwide survey on
the theme of love, including the
stars who are considered
desirable and the most romantic
movies of all time. And it is no
wonder that most youngsters
still rank ‘Dilwale Dulhania Le
Jayenge’ as their favourite movie
of all time and it scores highest
in the survey as the favourite love
story too.
Ranking second is another Shah
Rukh Khan starrer, ‘Dil Toh Pagal
Hai’, followed by ‘Bobby’, ‘Silsila’,
‘Maine Pyar Kiya’ and ‘Hum Aapke
Hain Kaun’.
It also comes as no surprise then
that Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol
are considered the most
romantic Bollywood pair.
Ranking a far second were
Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif.
However, while the Khans are
said to rule the box office, the
actor who rules hearts was not a
Khan but a Kapoor — Shahid
Kapoor. A close second was John
Abraham.
Chennai’s heart, however, beats
fastest for Hrithik Roshan.

Shah Rukh Khan torn apart

Actor Shah Rukh
Khan is going
through the grind
as he shoots for
Ra.One and Don 2
side-by-side.
With him playing
superhero in Ra.One, Shah Rukh
gets into heavy costumes that
make him lose weight.
Unfortunately, he has to put on
all that lost weight back on for
his continuity in 'Don 2'.
It's this constant losing weight
and putting on weight that has
got SRK exhausted. But the actor
says he's loving the process
nonetheless, simply because the
masses are going to be
entertained at the end of it all.
However, with most of the
shooting done for both films,
Shah Rukh is breathing a little
easy now. "He is working hard
on the post production of
Ra.One." The battle isn't over till
the film is out in the threatres. Till
then, Shah Rukh won't rest," says
a unit member.

Salman Khan, Shahrukh Khan or Hrithik: Farah Khan’s dilemma?

Choreographer turned director
Farah Khan seems to be in a
dilemma these days. Her recent
film ‘Tees Maar Khan’ being a
huge dud, she may not go for
Akshay Kumar in her next movie.
Though Akshay is a bankable star
in his own right still he is not as
big a crowd puller as the likes of
Shahrukh or Salman.
Farah Khan, in fact, may make a
U-turn and fall back on her
former ally Shahrukh Khan who
has been instrumental in the
success of her earlier films ‘Main
Hoon Na’ and ‘Om Shanti Om’.
Though they have been waging
war of late, recently the two
made up in an award ceremony
where they exchanged
pleasantries; yet the things are
not the same as they used to be.
Farah
may also resort to Salman Khan
whose popularity has soared to
insurmountable heights after the
stupendous success of
‘Dabangg’. Meanwhile, there are
also reports that Farah is eyeing
Hrithik Roshan for her next.
Hrithik may not be considered a
big crowd puller after the
debacle of ‘Kites’ and ‘Guzaarish’
but his acting credentials are
good and he is, definitely, a
powerhouse of talent.
Farah, meanwhile, has some time
to brood over her choices since
the film is, currently, on scripting
stage and she has stated that she
would think of the casting only
once the dialogue draft is ready.

Madhavan mocks Shahrukh?

Madhavan is amused by the
Bollywood diktat as per which
young NRIs are labeled as a Raj
or a Rahul in every second film,
especially if it belongs to
romantic genre. He could well be
referring to Shahrukh Khan who
has made a career out of playing
Raj and Rahul. Now even though
Maddy plays an NRI in his latest
film TANU WEDS MANU, he has
chosen to stay away from the
cliches of a typical Bollywood NRI
and instead kept it all real and
subtle yet intense.
'All this while we have been
seeing stories where the
moment an NRI youngster steps
back in India, he projects that
cool 'Yoman' persona. Now that
doesn't really happen in real life.
There could be an instance or
two but really, every NRI who
sets his feet in India isn't a Raj or
a Rahul', says R.Madhavan who is
paired opposite Kangana Ranaut
in TANU WEDS MANU.
'It is actually very tricky if one
goes into the heartland of our
country', continues Maddy who
came across various funny
anecdotes during the making of
the film, 'I have seen that those
Indians who live abroad are
actually more attached to the
culture, rituals and traditions
than the ones who have been
living here for decades.

No social networking for SRK

All efforts were
being made by the
channel for which
Shah Rukh Khan is
hosting a reality
game show that
SRK makes a
comeback on the
net. However, those plans have
tanked.
SRK had gone off his social
network following abusive
language against him by a couple
of people who were using the
net space to give vent to their
personal vendetta against him.
SRK was very hurt and he
decided to call it quits. Now,
despite the channel trying their
level best to coax the superstar
to stage a comeback, SRK is in no
mood to enter the dodgy
domain.

Shahrukh, Salman at loggerheads again

Shahrukh, Salman at
loggerheads again
MUMBAI: Shahrukh Khan and Salman Khan haven't been on
talking terms since Katrina's
birthday party in 2008 and it
seems the fight will not end.
's wedding bash is
indeed a testimony to this fact.
It is, indeed, very interesting to
note that no actor has sounded
apologetic about his behaviour
and are firm on their stance of
not talking to each other. Aamir's invitation to both
the warring Khans meant at least
a mere chance for the actors to
bond yet again. But the actors
were stubborn and defiant that
it's hard to spot any chance of
them reuniting.
Salman Khan entered the bash at
around 11:45 to bless the
wedding couple Imran and
Avantika with brother
. Alas, his exit was as
sudden and quick as his entry. In
fact he was nowhere to be seen
when SRK entered the premises.
The industry is murmuring about
another loss of opportunity in
burying the hatchet between the
two. So, it remains to be seen
whether the Khans would be
together yet again in the future.

Who made how much this awards season?

Who made how much this
awards season?
The Bollywood
awards season
that kicks off in
early January and
continues till mid-
February each
year is a very
rewarding time,
especially for the
Bollywood top brass.
A top actress casually remarked,
“ There is huge excitement if you
have a nomination. But even
otherwise it is a paying time
because you can earn mega-
bucks on your performances at
the various award nights. ”
Actually that is when TOI stopped
to ponder and discovered that
Shah Rukh Khan, Katrina Kaif,
Priyanka Chopra, Aishwarya Rai
Bachchan, Salman Khan, Kareena
Kapoor and Anushka Sharma
were the superstars most-in-
demand this award season.
Ranbir Kapoor, Ranveer Singh,
Imran Khan and Sonakshi Sinha
were also approached by
organisers to display their fresh
stage magic. However, these
youngsters were passed up for
the bigger names at some award
shows because of the lack of
availability of dates or budget
constraints.
One of the organisers says,
“ Every institution that hosts
awards wanted SRK to perform.
He was the most handsomely
paid actor in 2011. SRK ’s energy
on stage is unmatchable. Salman
was also a rage because of the
Dabangg factor. ”
While the men still called the
shots as far as payments and
conditions go, Katrina ’s Sheila Ki
Jaawani was the toast of the
season. Every channel that was
the co-sponsor at the various
awards functions was keen to
have Kat seducing their viewers
with Sheila.
Priyanka who is publicising her
forthcoming release and has
become an expert at doing
multiple characters was either an
emcee or a performer.
Aishwarya, who gets paid the
maximum amount amongst the
heroines to perform her regular
medley of songs, was also in
demand because she had five
releases in 2010.
Kareena who is basking in the
Golmaal-3 glory and has the best
projects this year is also a hot
favourite.
A trade source says, “One of the
reasons why actors prefer not to
travel for film shootings in the
months of Jan-Feb is because
they know there is a lot of money
to be made dancing at the award
nights. ”

SRK stuns with ‘Don-2’ looks

Want to experience the ultimate
surprise from SRK? Here’s
something that will get you
awestricken for such are the
astounding looks of Shah Rukh
Khan in Don-2. The King Khan
made it a point of staying away
from public glare, but couldn’t
anymore. With major portions of
Don-2 being filmed across
foreign locales, especially in
Malaysia, it wasn’t an easy deal to
capture his looks. But SRK was
found dining with the Malacca
Chief Minister and that was when
the actor couldn’t escape from
the clicks.
Wow! He looks completely
different from his previous
movies, even his very own
prequel Don. The actor possesses
a stylish pony tail with a
captivating tattoo. What else?
You’ll see SRK appearing in a
stunning physique. On the dot,
the actor is involved in the
process of gaining and shedding
weight as he is simultaneously
shooting for Don-2 and his
dream project RA.ONE. Since
these movies depict him in
different roles, the actor is taking
scrutinizing efforts to maintain
them.

|Shahrukh| |Achievements|

Shahrukh Khan is a highly
celebrated actor cum producer
of the Indian film industry in the
present times. He has acted in
various blockbuster movies like
Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayange, Dil
to Pagal Hai, Khabhi Khushi
Kabhi Gham, Chak De India and
others. These have made
Shahrukh hugely popular not
only in India, but also across
several other countries. He can
easily be said to be the most
influential actor among all his
contemporaries in present day
Bollywood. So much so that he is
famously called King Khan in the
Hindi filmdom.

‘All for my kids’ : SRK

Shah Rukh Khan is probably one
of the few lucky actors who have
achieved great success on small
screen as well as big screen.
Talking about his latest stint on
TV as the host of Imagine ’s Zor
Ka Jhatka, the actor who
probably will also be seen in its
second season, says, “I am quite
sporty m yself and even my kids
enjoy sports. I am completely
enjoying hosting this high
energy show as it is quite
entertaining to see the
contestants not giving up and
trying their best to excel at
various stunts given to them.”
Khan’s upcoming films include
Anubhav Sinha’s Ra.One and
Farhan Akhtar’s Don 2 for which
he is currently shooting in
Malaysia. “Ra.One is a superhero
movie and we have given a
whole new dimension to the
visual effects being used in Hindi
films. I have even sought the
services of many Oscar-winning
technicians for the post
production of the film,” says
Khan. He further adds, “Ra.one is
dedicated to all the fathers and
their kids. To be honest, my kids
don ’t think I am their superhero
and I hope this movie will
change that. ”
On being asked about the
importance of awards to him, the
actor quips, “I enjoy receiving
awards because my kids love
them. I don ’t care about what
others think. I am happiest doing
things for the sake of my
children. ”

Shah Rukh Khan fan in dreamland !!!

MALACCA: The lucky stars were
definitely shining for Mehjabeen
Erum Alim when her life-long
dream to meet Bollywood
superstar Datuk Shah Rukh Khan
finally came true.
“It is an indescribable feeling and
I am so happy to have finally met
him. I feel like I am in
dreamland, ” she said after
meeting Khan yesterday at a
resort in Ayer Keroh.
Khan met Erum, 27, and seven
other fans at the resort just as he
was about to enter his car to go
to the film location at Sungai
Udang for his latest movie Don 2.
Erum, a Bangladeshi who is
pursuing her Masters in Business
Administration in Kuala Lumpur,
said she and the other fans
learned that Khan was staying at
the resort.
“Fortunately, he spotted us just
as he was about to get into the
car and agreed to sign
autographs and take
photographs, ” she said, adding
that she managed to draw his
attention to the story in The Star
about her wanting to meet him.
Khan autographed the news
article for her.
Erum, who had spent about
RM10,000 tracking her idol, said
she would still love to meet him
again just to hear his voice.
“It was just a fleeting moment
and he didn’t say a word but
merely nodded and gestured to
us as he rarely speaks before
filming so as not to come out of
the character he is playing, ” she
said, adding that fans were
nevertheless thrilled when he
blew a flying kiss before leaving
the resort.
Besides taking home memories
of the meeting with Khan, she
said she was glad to have made
new friends who shared a
similar passion for the Bollywood
heartthrob.
Erum and other diehard fans
from Kuala Lumpur and Shah
Alam had staked out the Don 2
film set in Malacca over the last
two days.

Shahrukh Love's Advertising !

I LOVE ADVERTISING :::
If I were given a choice between
watching a film or watching a
collection of good ads, I would
prefer to watch ads. I remember
when I was in Delhi I used to go
to an ad agency called Anthem,
where my friend used to work
as a copywriter. I would enjoy
sitting in for the brainstorming
sessions which involved
watching the world ’s best ads. I
would devotedly read Ogilvy &
Mather. During my free time in
college, I did production for a lot
of ads. Like the KLM Royal Dutch
Airlines campaign which
introduced their Jumbo Carrier
with the image of an elephant
carrying cargo on his back. As a
matter of fact, in college I took
up Mass Communication just to
make ad films. I did not want to
make feature films. I think 30-
second films are an art form,
and an art form which is very
difficult to master. Just like
brevity is the soul of writing, I
believe advertising is the soul of
filmmaking. Even today, I really
get excited when I see a well-
made ad. Unfortunately, now
that I have become a star,
there ’s only so much that can be
done with me as a model. You
have to use the ‘Shah Rukh Khan’
element.
Most people don’t know this, but
I have done a television ad for
Liberty shoes while I was
shooting Fauji. I looked really
ugly in it. All I did was to wear
my Puma t-shirt and football
shorts and jump. They are the
first sports shoes made in India
and I was their first model. The
second ad I did a Pan Parag kind
of product, but it never really
took off in the market.
Then there were a lot of public
service ads which I had done in
Delhi during Fauji and Dil Darya.
For one of these ads, I did my
first stunt, and that too without
an action choreographer. I
collided into a car with my two-
wheeler, and somersault onto
the bonnet and went over the
roof. The first ad I did after I
came to Bombay, the Tata Tea
ad, helped me to buy a house. I
did three films in three days
with Prahlad Kakkar. They were
produced by Pravin Nischol
(who later produced English
Babu Desi Mem).
They wanted me for the Pepsi ad
at the time, but they did a survey
and decided to take Aamir, who
was already a star. Mukul had
suggested my name because he
felt that I would be the Next Big
Thing. But after the survey, they
didn ’t take me..

Shah Rukh Khan to sizzle in an item number? ?

Shah Rukh Khan to
sizzle in an item
number?
Bollywood superstar Shahrukh
Khan, who had surprised
everyone with his six-pack
revealing performance in the
song Dard-E-Disco, will reportedly
do another item number for his
upcoming home-production
Always Kabhi Kabhi.
Directed by debutante Roshan
Abbas, Always Kabhi Kabhi,
which is produced by SRK`s Red
Chillies Entertainment, is based
on the theme of high-school life.
"There is one item song in the
film with all four lead actors and
an extremely popular star. Just
wait and watch," Abbas said.
There is a buzz in the B-town
that King Khan will be seen
flaunting his body again. Four
years ago, Shah Rukh`s six-pack
abs grabbed eyeballs as he went
topless for Farah Khan`s Om
Shanti Om to perform the
number Dard-E-Disco that
became an instant hit.
"There is a demand for item
songs now, last year we saw
Munni Badnam and Sheila Ki
Jawani sweeping awards, and
they became popular. Item songs
are a good marketing tool for a
film," Abbas said.
SRK had also done an item
number for Hrithik Roshan`s
home-production Krazzy 4 and
Karan Johar`s Kaal. Always Kabhi
Kabhi will see four debutantes –
Producer Karim Morani`s
daughter Zoa and Giselle
Monterio, who played Harleen
alongside Saif Ali Khan in Love
Aaj Kal, Satyajit Dubey and Ali
Fazal.

Shahrukh Khan To Shoot Don 2 In Melaka MELAKA, Feb 15 (Bernama) --

Shahrukh Khan To Shoot Don 2
In Melaka
MELAKA, Feb 15 (Bernama) --
"Yes, I promised the last time to
be back here and shoot a movie
and I am now here," said
Bollywood sensation Shahrukh
Khan.
Bestowed a "Datukship" by the
Melaka State Government during
his last visit here in Dec 2008,
Shahrukh is in town to shoot his
new movie "Don 2", a sequel of
his "Don: The Chase Begins"
which was released in 2006.
"We began shooting few days
ago and I will be here for
another two or three days to film
the beginning part of the film,"
he told reporters at a secret
location in Sungai Udang, here
Tuesday.
Also present was Melaka Chief
Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Ali
Rustam, his wife Datin Seri
Asmah Abdul Rahman and the
two producers of the film, Ritesh
Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar.
Farhan who was the producer of
the first movie is also the director
for Don 2, a film which is due to
be released to 32 countries
worldwide this December.
Shahrukh said the new film will
be more slick and technically
savvy as compared with the first
one (Don).
"This is an action movie like "The
James Bond" or "Bourne Identity"
genre which will appeal to boys
rather than girls," said Shahrukh
who wore a white t-shirt and
bright orange pant, with an
unfamiliar pony tail hair to suit
his character in the film.
Shahrukh, 45, looking thinner
than before was in a jovial mood,
cracking jokes at reporters that
he missed Priyanka Chopra, the
leading lady in the film who was
not present since she had to
return to India to promote her
new film.
He said his role in the film was
just like the first movie, playing a
bad guy, "fooling" around with a
lot of people and getting the job
done.
"Just like my character in real
life," he said with a sense of
humour

Shah Rukh Khan upset over Salman Khan's snub to his truce offer ::

Shah Rukh Khan is reportedly
disgusted with bete noire and
arch rival Salman Khan's
negative reaction to his wish for
a patch-up. King Khan had
recently said on Karan Johar's
chat show Koffee with Karan that
if Salman was angry with him, he
would own up to the fact that it
must be his fault.
SRK added that he was keen to
let bygones be bygones. Salman's
reaction, however, was far from
cordial. The Dabangg hero
declared that he believed that
SRK was merely play- acting to
increase the TRPs of buddy
Karan's show.
Sallu said since they were
neighbours, Shah Rukh could
have dropped by any time to
apologise personally if he was
indeed serious about the
patchup instead of saying it on
national television.
"Shah Rukh tried burying the
hatchet. Salman, however, seems
to be in no mood to be friends.
SRK now feels if that's Salman's
attitude, it is his problem. He has
hinted that he wouldn't be
bothered about the issue any
more," a source said.
In fact, shortly after Salman's
reaction, the two superstars
reportedly avoided coming face
to face at the party thrown by
Aamir Khan for nephew Imran
and his wife Avantika.
At Imran's reception, Salman left
within half an hour after
entering the venue. Onlookers
say he made his way towards the
exit the moment he heard Shah
Rukh was on his way to the
venue. Incidentally, while the two
superstars don't see eye- to- eye,
SRK's wife Gauri is a close friend
of Salman's sister-in-law, Malaika
Arora Khan.
"At home, Malaika and Salman's
brother Arbaaz normally avoid
talking about Gauri or Shah Rukh
because Salman doesn't like his
name being mentioned," a
source said.

2006 blockbuster hit ‘Don’,” The
Star announced Monday.
He flew in from Mumbai after a
gruelling 58 hours of working on
a set.
“Datuk Shah Rukh Khan lived up
to his tough guy image by
proceeding to Malacca state to
continue filming,” the newspaper
said.
Besides Priyanka, a former Miss
World, a 60-member crew
accompanied Khan to Malacca.
“The Indian icon looked relaxed
and up to the task of filming
`Don 2?, a highly-anticipated
action thriller.”
His arrival created a stir at the
airport as passengers rushed to
catch a glimpse of the actors.
“Despite their hectic schedule,
the duo did not disappoint when
their fans asked to take
photographs.”
“Don 2? will continue to portray
Khan as Don, an undercover
police officer masquerading as
the leader of an international
gang of drug smugglers.
Priyanka will play his love
interest, Roma.
The sequel will promote Malaysia,
just as the initial blockbuster did.
Local sensation Ady Putra, known
for his bad boy roles in hit Malay
movies like “Anak Halal” and
“Histeria”, will also star alongside
Khan, with shooting to be done
at Sungai Udang.
Khan’s close friend of 16 years,
Lorna Enan Muloon, said the
Indian actor had set the trend for
Bollywood to have Malaysia,
especially Malacca, as a preferred
location for filming.
“The state has a special place in
his heart,” she said.
“Don 2? will also be filmed in
Kuala Lumpur, the national
capital and Langkawi, a popular
island resort.
Khan will be in the country for
about a month.

Abbas''s high-school film adaptation of his hit play ''Graffiti''

Abbas''s high-school film
adaptation of his hit play
''Graffiti'' ::: Debutant
director Roshan Abbas, who is all
charged up for his upcoming film
''Always Kabhi Kabhi'' says the
success of his play ''Graffiti''
inspired him to make a movie on
high-school life, a theme that he
feels is now catching up with
Bollywood.
The film which would be released
in summer is creating a lot of
buzz with actor-producer
Shahrukh Khan, doing an item
song for it. To reports that an
extremely popular star would be
part of this item song, the
director said, "wait and watch."
"In 1999, I had written and
directed this play called ''Graffiti''.
After its success, I decided to
make film on this subject -high
school life. I believe this theme is
catching up now and I need to
explore it," Abbas told PTI.
The screenplay for the film was
written in 2008 and in 2009,
Abbas began work on directing a
film. "In 2008, we started
converting the play into
screenplay because in 1999 the
situation was different and now
it is different. The biggest
challenge we faced was to find
the star cast as we were looking
for fresh faces. This process itself
took about nine months," he said.
The film produced by SRK''s Red
Chillies Entertainment will see four
debutants-- producer Karim
Morani''s daughter Zoa, Giselle
Monterio (who played Harleen
alongside Saif Ali Khan in ''Love
Aaj Kal'') Satyajit Dubey and Ali
Fazal.
When asked whether it was easy
for him to get SRK s RCE to back
this film, the director said, "Once I
was hosting a show and I met
Shahrukh on stage.. I discussed
the film with him. He said yes and
I thought it would just be a
passing conversation. But later I
got a call from his production
house and met people over
there...and then things got
finalised."
About the film, Abbas, who is a
popular radio and host, said, "The
film is about four students
coming off age. Their dreams and
desires." PTI KKP DK.

SRK steals Salman's DabanggDirector

SRK steals Salman's Dabangg
director :: [Reshma Kelkar Dabholkar]
Dabangg director
Abhinav Kashayp
is so much in
demand that he
doesn ’t mind
shifting loyalties
from Salman to
Shah Rukh.
Seems like Dabangg director
Abhinav Kashyap has become hot
favourite amongst Khans. The
success of Dabangg made
Salman forget all the differences
he had with the director and he
was convinced that Abhinav was
the best choice for Dabangg
sequel. But Salman got furious
when he learnt that Abhinav had
a secret meeting with his
archrival Shah Rukh Khan.
It is believed that SRK expressed
his desire to work with Abhinav
for his home production.
Abhinav and Shah Rukh had a
meeting at his residence
regarding the same. When
Salman learnt about the same he
lost his temper. According to an
industry source Salman has now
decided to do the sequel without
Abhinav.
The sources also added that
there is a possibility that Salman’s
brother Sohail Khan who once
directed films like Pyaar Kiya Toh
Darna Kya and Hello Brother
might make a comeback to
direction with ‘Dabangg 2’.
Meanwhile there’s buzz doing
the rounds that Aamir Khan is
also keen to work with Abhinav
Kashyup. Aamir and Abhinav
have worked earlier on few
commercials. So impressed was
Aamir by Abhinav ’s work that we
can’t deny the possibility of
Aamir announcing his next with
Abhinav.

Roshan Abbas :: Shahrukh gave me freedom to make mistakes

Roshan Abbas: Shahrukh gave
me freedom to make mistakes
Radio jockey, anchor/ presenter,
host, theatre artist, actor Roshan
Abbas, is all set with his
directorial debut, ALWAYS KABHI
KABHI, made under Shahrukh
Khan's Red Chillies Entertainment.
However, it's hard to believe that
Shahrukh has not yet seen the
film.
Roshan says, 'He has seen only
bits and parts of the scenes as
the compilation and process of
film is too big. The good part of it
is he has never been judgmental
on it. We are making a fresh
attempt on behalf of Red Chillies
to come out with a different film.
He gave me suggestions but he
never ever meddled while
working. All he said was you like
it use it.'
ROSHAN ABBAS
Roshan, who has known
Shahrukh for over years now,
says SRK has a good grip over
audience pulse. He is elated to
have worked with a producer
like Shahrukh Khan.
'He has done 71 films so his
experience his huge. And
Shahrukh's understanding of the
audience is uncanny. He knows
the audience well. He would hear
a phrase and say it will work or
not. He's never been
authoritative. I wish I have all the
producers like him. He not only
gave me all the freedom to do
what I wanted but also gave the
freedom to make mistakes
(laughs),' says the debutant
director with full gusto.
He further praises Shahrukh style
of working. 'I learnt a lot from
him. He has been absolutely
wonderful. His suggestions were
there when we were at scripting
stage but then he left us to what
we wanted. Shahrukh always
gave us a freehand which I really
appreciate,' signs off Roshan
says in a cheerful tone.
